My car skid off the road today and was stuck in snow. Did I do the right thing, etc?

Brad Pradt asked:

Unfortunately it took up to 2 hours to get help, it was a bad day with plenty of accidents. However, I had at least 10 cars pull over to see if i was okay, but I was really nervous about talking to any of them because heck, you really never know who it is you’re talking to.

Ironically 9/10 of them were dudes. I guess ladies aren’t too helpful? LOL not when it comes to cars im sure.

What scared me though is, aside from staying in my car, and answerig to cops, this one group of loud mexicans about 10 of them came by, started laughing at me, and the situation, I guess since it looked kinda stupid, young gay/bi white boy in distress with shiny new car all stuck and splattered with mud, but they were even coming IN My car uninvited, I mean..it was like…are u trying to help me, or play around with me and steal my car!?!?

I didn’t know what to do at that point, but luckilly I had the keys so I went inside of the car, locked it told the guy I’m getting help and started talking at my cellphone. At that instant, they just kinda went away, and one of the guys said I’ll call towing, or whatever.

I was thinking wow, maybe they did just try to help but they were being shady. Another two guys asked me if I had a jumper cable since they were down, then a few more came by to see if I was okay, they claimed they drove from the other part of the highway all the way over to mine to see if I was okay. Then we had cops try to get me business with local towers, and NOT AAA.

I felt like instead of helping me they were just trying to make business for those boys, and the people pulling off the side were just…I dunno. one person used me, the other ppl were just laughing. it was really weird and I really felt violated to a degree.

Like I should have just ignored them all. What does someone DO in that situation? I was freaked out enough especially it being in the middle of a huge intersection during rush hour and a blizzard lol.

Do people who usually pull over really want to help, for the most part, and was I just being paranoid?

Or can some people really be freaks?

What’s the right thing to do in that situation?

Also, why do people laugh at AAA or whatever? I thought having them just in case was always a good thing.

One guy was like, “YOU have AAA?!?” like shocked or whatever.

Im like uhhh.yeah?!?! I’m not aware that AAA is a disaster club of some sorts lol.

Most people do want to help and because they could see that you are young people want to stop and make sure you are ok out of genuine concern. However, there are some weird ones in the world and I think you attracted a few of them. Never let someone in your vehicle like that. You did all the right things by locking the doors and getting on your phone.

People might have been taken aback on the AAA thing because of your age, no worries. You are responsible and safe and that is all that matters.

Triple A is great! Get it if you can, the feeling of security alone is worth it. I’ve had a membership for over 8 years and have always had great results and they are very inexpensive for what they offer. Good people and bad everywhere, you never know. Be careful, have faith and you will overcome! Can I e-mail u something personal? Either way, faith is the opposite of fear!
